Chinese Health Information Centre(CHIC) are committed to safeguarding the privacy of our service users, our clients and supporters and we want you to feel secure whilst engaged with us in business, in using any of our services, in taking part in any of our activities and in supporting us. This privacy statement outlines how we may use any personally identifiable information data about you and the ways in which we protect and treat such data we collect via online feedback forms; or via offline forms completed when registering to use our services or attend our activities.
These policies also cover CHIC’s treatment of any personally identifiable information that CHIC’s partners share with CHIC. These policies do not apply to the practices of companies and organisations that CHIC does not own or control or to people that CHIC does not employ or manage.
PERSONAL DATA THAT WE COLLECT
The personally identifiable information we may collect, store and use in the following kinds of data:
- Data about you (including your name, postal address, date of birth, gender email address, and contact number.
- Data that you provide to us for the purpose of using any of our services or taking part in any of our community events and activities. Once you register with us, you are not anonymous to us.
- We also collect data such as your computers IP address (a unique set of numbers to identify you when visiting our Web Site) via our web server.
- Chinese Health Information Centre(CHIC) may also receive personally identifiable information from outside organisations and our business partners.
INFORMATION SHARING AND DISCLOSURE
CHIC will not sell or rent your personally identifiable information to anyone. Anonymous information about you may be passed to our business partners as a basis for research or funding application purposes. The information we send for these purposes will contain no personally identifiable information about you.
CHIC will send personally identifiable information about you to other companies or people when:
- We need to share your information to provide the product or service you have requested;
- We need to send the information to companies and organisations who work on behalf of CHIC to provide a product or service to you. (Unless we tell you differently, these companies do not have any right to use the personally identifiable information we provide to them beyond what is necessary to assist us.);

- We find that your actions on our web sites or in our Centre violate CHIC’s Terms of Service or any of our usage guidelines for specific products or services.
- Upon registering as a service user, supporter of CHIC, you agree to receive and to be informed from time to time about our services and activities either by CHIC’s newsletter, telephone call, telephone messages, Wechat, Whatsapp, emails or any other materials that promotes our services, new and existing.

A cookie consists of data sent by a web server to a web browser, and stored by the browser. The data is then sent back to the server each time the browser requests a page from the server. This enables the web server to identify and track the web browser.

Your Ability to Edit and the Information we hold
CHIC allows you to request that information about you is altered in order to reflect your current circumstances. We ask that this is done either in person, via electronic mail (e-mail), or in writing.
Security
All personally identifiable information held by CHIC about you is accessed by CHIC’s authorised personnel only. This information is not divulged to any other person or organisation unless otherwise stated in this policy or our Confidentiality Policy.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
CHIC reserves the right to amend this and all of its policies from time to time in order to reflect its services, service users, staff and volunteers needs. Any changes may be mentioned either on the website or in our quarterly newsletter
