CHIC is glad to announce that it has received a further funding from Your Housing Group (YHG) for 2022-2023.The funding is to promote physical, social and mental well being among the local Chinese older people including residents of YHG and older Chinese in Greater Manchester.

YHG funding is very crucial especially aftermath of Long Covid suffers who are less active than in pre-pandemic times. The funding helps to promote and enable people to stay connected, be sociable and more sharp.

The funding provide a range of community health activities including regular health walks, Tai Chi sessions, Memory Lane Support Group, Tea Time Club, one-to-one telephone befriending support, health promotion talks and health walk.

We would like to thank Your Housing Group for the continued support of work which benefit a large number of Chinese older people in Manchester and its surrounding areas.

CHIC has received funding grant by the Canal & River Trust, to run a Ride Health Project until March 2023.The project will run a series of Canal Health walks, cycle sessions in a local athletic track to support people to learn to ride a bike and to organise a series of canal ride.

On Sat 24-09-2022 in the morning a group of 21 Chinese people from the Chinese Community in Manchester took part with joy in the cycling in the athletic track at Boggart Hole Clough Park. A trainer provided information on how to look after a bike and preliminary safety checks.

Later in the afternoon CHIC organised a Canal Ride along the Rochdale Canal Tow Path in Ancoats.14 people joined the ride with much joy & fun. It reminds them of many happy times in the past before settled on in the UK. Anyone interested please contact CHIC Shirley He 01611280138
