Community Gardening Course

The first lesson (see photos) was on 31-5-2014, 8 people took part. They were taught how to sow the see in plug tray, how to choose suitable fruits and vegetables in different seasons. After much this discussion it was planned to plant some fruits and vegetables around the garden in Chinatown.

第一堂(見图片)有八人參與, 培訓員在義工傳譯員協助下,教導參加者基本方法怎樣栽種和如何選擇不種類的蔬菜種植及要注意的事項. 經過商討他們選了環繞曼城唐人街沿着涼亭附近栽種一些蔬菜.

Sexual Health & Hepatitis B Prevention

‘Sexual health & Hepatitis B Prevention’ health talk on 31st May 2014, 15 people attended

CHIC held a health talk on ‘Sexual Health & Hepatitis B Prevention’ in Yang Sing Restaurant. Dr. Simon Kan gave the talk in Cantonese. Dr. Kan explained the causes, signs and symptoms, routes of transmissions, treatment and prevention of Hepatitis B. He also explained in details of the connection of Hepatitis B and sexual health. He said that it was important to prevent HBV transmission including avoiding sharing needles and razors with others, having safe sex protection and avoid blood contamination.

2014年5月31日‘性健¬¬康及乙型肝炎的傳播與預防’健康講座,共15人參加。

中心在羊城酒樓舉辦一項“性健¬¬康及乙型肝炎的傳播與預防”講座。由簡嘯文醫生用廣東話主講。簡醫生講解有關乙型肝炎病毒(HBV)的原因、傳播途徑、HBV的症狀並强調預防乙型肝炎病毒包括不要與人共用剃髮刀、他人用過的針筒噐材、要採用安全性行為及避免接觸血液。他還詳细解釋乙型肝炎和性健康的關連。

Meeting with Councillor Kevin Peel

Meeting with the councillor Kevin Peel on the 30th May 2014. 18 people attended.

20 members from the local Chinese community had a meeting with the Councillor Kevin Peel to discuss the issues raised on the 27th March 2014. The Councillor announced that there will be new bins to replace the old ones and extra bins will be put in Chinatown and around the City Centre. Work will be done on the pavements and tree trimming around Canal Street and Richmond Street. Discussion is underway as to how and where to install the benches in the City Centre. Participants were pleased with the outcome. A monthly meeting has been agreed with the councillor. CHIC provides an ideal platform and an easy access for service users and members of the local Chinese community for their voices to be heard. A Cantonese interpreter was used to enable such meeting to take place. The next meeting will be held on 27th June 2014 at 12.30pm at CHIC. We welcome local members to get involved.

曼城社區華人興市政府議員皮爾-嘉泛開大會, 18人參與。

華人社區人仕於2014年五月三十日在中心與議員皮爾-嘉泛開會討論在3月27日開會時所題出的問題. 這次議員帶回來積極回應。議員皮爾宣佈將會有新的垃圾桶取代舊的和額外的垃圾桶將放置唐人街和城市中心周圍。並會修整同性戀村的行人道和修剪那里的樹木。並將進一步討論以怎樣方式及在城市中心哪裡安裝長凳。參與者對大會結果感到滿意。每月與政府議員舉行會議的計劃已落實。中心為服務使用者和當地唐人社區的成員提供一個理想的平台,使他們的聲音方便地被聆聽。這些會議都有安排廣東話傳譯員。

Love your community- Litter Pick in Chinatown Manchester on 30th May 2014

Through the support and partnership with Community Organizing Project. The service users of CHIC dressed up and wore gloves to pick up litter in Chinatown Manchester on 30-5-2014. The participants was glad to take part in such action and they were proud of themselves that they made contribution to their community.

愛您的社區-曼城唐人街執垃圾行動

透過與社區組織計劃合作,中心的長者們於2014年5日30日穿上清潔的服裝及戴上手套在曼城唐人街執垃圾, 這次行動令長者們感到自豪, 能為社區出力, 樂也融融.

Dunham Massey Park

23rd May 2014 Trip to Dunham Massey Park, 46 people took part.

The event was jointly organized by the Tung Sing Housing Association and CHIC. Free packed lunch and garden entrance fee were provided. The participants thoroughly enjoyed walking through the beautiful garden in the rain. They were amazed to see so many beautiful species of trees, plants and flowers. The verbal feedback from them was very good that they claimed to have a marvellous time, they felt relaxed and they had enjoyed the companionship with others.

2014年5月23日鄧琳梅西公園健康步行,共46位華人長者踴躍參加。
