Shirley He gave the talk in Cantonese. She talked in detail about bowel cancer’s symptoms, causes, treatment and prevention. She encouraged the elderly to attend Bowel Screening checks once the invitation is received. And always be aware that if there are any bowel changes or blood on stools, you must see your GP immediately. Shirley also explained the importance of having 5 a day and exercising daily to maintain a healthy bowel.

由林姑娘主講。她用廣東話講解有關腸癌的症狀、病因、治療及預防的細節。目的是鼓勵年歲超過 60歲人仕收到大腸檢查邀請信時應做這項檢查。她提醒大家如果注意到任何不尋常的變化及大腸習惯，應立即諮詢家庭醫生。林姑娘還鼓勵聽眾要注意均衡飲食及多做運動才可以保持健康大腸。

Shirley He described in detail the symptoms, causes, treatment and prevention of coronary heart disease. She also talked about the risk factors and complications of high blood pressure. Doing exercise and having a healthy diet (avoid too much fats, oils, salts and sugar) is essential to have a healthy lifestyle.

Dr. See Kwok was the main speaker of this talk. She talked in detail about the incidence, risk factors and treatment of breast cancer in English. She stressed that if there were any changes to the breast or a lump is discovered on the breast, you must report to your GP immediately. It is also important to self-examine your breasts and attend the breast screening program in order to prevent breast cancer. There was a Q&A session after the health talk. Mr. Wai Man Chow – Urology Consultant of North Manchester General Hospital was invited to be the main speaker. He described in detail the causes, symptoms, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of bladder cancer in Cantonese. Mr. Chow said if blood appears in the urine, they must see their GPs immediately. Prevention advice includes stopping smoking to prevent bladder cancer from reoccurring. At the end of the talk, Dr. Chow provided one to one consultation with the participants.
