Thalassemia

On 14th July 2011, a health talk regarding ‘Thalassemia’ was held in Little Yang Sing Restaurant. Verna Davis, the Service Manager of Manchester Thalassemia Centre was invited to deliver the talk in English. Shirley He, the Nurse Operational Manager of Chinese Health Information Centre interpreted for the audience in Cantonese. They explained the signs of symptoms, causes, complications and treatments of thalassemia. Overall, 36 people attended the talk.

On 23rd June 2011, a health talk regarding Sexual Health & HIV update took place in Little Yang Sing restaurant. Gertrude and Fibola from Manchester Black Health Agency (BHA) were the main speakers of the talk. Shirley He, the Nurse Operational Manager of Chinese Health Information Centre (CHIC) interpreted for the audience in Cantonese. 18 people attended the talk.

Risk of Coronary Heart Disease

‘Risk of Coronary Heart Disease’ was given in English by Dr. Kwok See (GP) on the 26th May 2011at Little Yang Sing Restaurant. The information of the signs and symptoms, causes, risk factors, treatment of and prevention of coronary heart disease were well explained. Shirley He provided instant interpreting service. The talk was well received by 61 people from the local Chinese community.
