Gastrointestinal Disorders (GD)

On 26th April 2011, CHIC held a community health talk about ‘Gastrointestinal Disorders(GD)’ at Wu Kau Tang Chinese Overseas Association. Dr. Roy Lie used fluent Cantonese to deliver the causes and symptoms of GD, which also included detailed explanations of esophageal, stomach and different part of bowel cancers. This health talk attracted 58 people; this included 20 people from the Sum Yin Chinese Women Association from Blackpool.

Urological Diseases

On the 13th April 2011, a health talk about ‘Urological Diseases (including bladder and prostate Cancer)’ was held in Little Yang Sing Restaurant. Dr Wai Man Chow, Consultant of Urology, was invited to be the main speaker. He spoke in Cantonese to explain the symptoms, causes, treatment and prevention of urological diseases including bladder and prostate cancer. This gave the audience an opportunity to ask the Consultant questions and receiving satisfying answers. In total 33 people attended the talk.

Ear, Nasal and Throat Cancer

On the 30th March 2011, a health talk was held in Yang Sing Restaurant. Dr Lip Lee gave the talk about ‘Ear, Nasal and Throat Cancer’ in English. Shirley He, the Nurse Operations Manager of CHIC provided interpretation in Cantonese for the audience. The information of the signs and symptoms, causes, risk factors, treatment of the variety of cancers were well explained, including the pro and cons of treatment of cancer. 40 people attended the talk.
