On 22nd January 2011, after the children’s activities, followed by the Canal Walk. An Achievement Award was presented to 3 mothers and 6 children for completing the full 12 weeks walking programme.

“Osteoporosis & Joints” health talk on 11 January 2011. Dr. Howard Kong (GP) explaining in Cantonese the causes and risk factors ( including age, gender, diet) of osteoporosis to 23 people from the local Chinese community.

X’mas Luncheon Party on 13th December 2010. 70 people took part at the Little Yang Sing Restaurant. Appreciation Awards were presented by the chairman of CHIC Ken Shieu to the elderly for their diligent attendance in the Medical Class, Tai Chi Classes and Community Walking To Health Group. Mr. Ed Dowell, Census Community Officer (Manchester & Liverpool) took the opportunity to present the important message of completing the national census which is going to take place in March 2011.

On 30-11-2010, “Diagnostic and Intervention in Radiology” given in Cantonese by Dr. James Lay- Consultant Radiologist. 25 people attended.

‘Prevention of Coronary Heart Disease’ on 25-10-2010 Total attendees : 30 Venue – CHIC
On the 25th October 2010, a health talk was held in Chinese Health Information Centre (CHIC). Shirley He, the Nurse Operational Manager gave a detailed presentation about ‘Prevention of Coronary of Heart Disease’ in Cantonese. Information of the signs of symptoms, causes, the treatment and prevention of coronary heart disease were provided. She encouraged the audience to do more exercise and stressed that they should avoid foods that contain high sugar, fat and salt content.

In total 30 people attended the health talk. The majority (21, 75%) of the people who attended the event were in the age of 65 and over. 5 (18%) people are in the 55-64 age group and 2 (7%) did not disclose their age.
