Community Health Promotion
12th May 2009, “Aches & Pains” health talk (left) was given in Cantonese by Dr. Roy Lie (GP) at Yang Sing Restaurant. The talk attracted 86 Chinese residents in Manchester and its surrounding areas. There were 37 people came from the Chinese Community of Bangor of North Wales.
2008-9 GATE Project “Tai Chi Class” at the International Buddhist Society. On average 20-22 people attended. As the number of participants increased, an extra class has been funded with effect from 1st May 2009 until March 2010 at the Wu kau Tang Oversea Chinese Association (near Chinatown Manchester.
27th April 2009, “Dental care” for people aged 65+” was given in English by Dental Care Specialist Carol Alberti. In house interpreting service provided by Eva Tsang (Community Health Worker of CHIC). 11 people attended.
19th May 2009, “NHS Bowel Screening Programme” health talk was given in English by two Project Workers: Audrey Howarth & Tara Davis, from the Public Health Development Service of Manchester PCT at the Wu Kau Tang Overseas Chinese Association. In house interpreting provided. With great success. The talk attracted 52 Chinese in Manchester and its surrounding areas.
